ABC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anagenesis Trees Corporation (ATC), was formed in order to exploit the value of the biomass produced from the cultivation of the Anagenesis Trifolia tree (“Trifolia tree”) as a feedstock. On average, one acre of Trifolia trees produces in excess of 80 tonnes of biomass in the first year. Unlike other trees, Trifolia trees re-grow from their own stump, reaching 7 metres in height within 12 months and producing the same volume of biomass each year. In effect, the Trifolia tree guarantees a consistent and continuous annual supply of biomass. The Trifolia tree retains less than 12% moisture content and has a calorific value of 18,800 BTU per kilogram, therefore making it an excellent source of biomass for gasification and conversion to sustainable renewable energy.

ABC has entered into an exclusive partnership with a supplier of a proprietary gasification technology capable of utilizing the biomass from the Trifolia Tree, to produce electricity off-grid. The technology has been developed and is fully patented in the United Kingdom. Unlike other gasification technologies, the process involves practically zero emissions and has a very low parasitic load of 8%, which means that from the electricity produced only 8% is used to power the facility while the remaining 92% can be sold to the local or national grid. The nearest parasitic load that any competitor can achieve to date is 25%. The technology is also cost-efficient and requires little ongoing maintenance.

ABC, through its local subsidiary in India, ABPI, aims to produce electricity in a clean, green and sustainable way in the district of Tamil Nadu where power shortages (up to 30% at peak) are a daily phenomenon. The first phase of the project (100 MWh) will create a minimum of 2,500 long-term agricultural jobs for local people. Upon implementation of the project, it is ABC’s intention to expand the business to other regions within India as well as in other countries.

Preliminary steps have been taken for the implementation of similar projects in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Kenya & Uganda, where major areas of land have been identified for the cultivation of Trifolia trees and preliminary discussions with local authorities and utility companies have taken place.

In summary, ABC uses the Trifolia tree as feedstock / biomass for the production of clean, green and sustainable electricity. ABC has partnered with a leading supplier of an efficient gasification technology that allows for the conversion of biomass into bioelectricity. The technology is proven and tested on its optimal scale; hence there is no technology or scalability risk involved.

The business model of ABC is relatively simple and consists of the following:

  • Planting, growing and harvesting the proprietary Trifolia trees on an annual basis
  • Using the Trifolia trees as feedstock/biomass for the gasification/pyrolysis units
  • Producing clean, green electricity via gas generators
  • Selling the electricity to the local or national power grid
